Cellular Memory

‘The fourth wall is a performance convention in which an invisible, imagined wall separates actors from the audience. While the audience can see through this “wall”, the convention assumes, the actors act as if they cannot. From the 16th century onward, the rise of illusionism in staging practices, which culminated in the realism and naturalism of the theatre of the 19th century, led to the development of the fourth wall concept.

“Breaking the fourth wall” is any instance in which this performance convention, having been adopted more generally in the drama, is violated. This can be done through either directly referring to the audience, the play as a play, or the characters’ fictionality. The temporary suspension of the convention in this way draws attention to its use in the rest of the performance. This act of drawing attention to a play’s performance conventions is metatheatrical. A similar effect of metareference is achieved when the performance convention of avoiding direct contact with the camera, generally used by actors in a television drama or film, is temporarily suspended. The phrase “breaking the fourth wall” is used to describe such effects in those media. Breaking the fourth wall is also possible in other media, such as video games and books.’

Down in the Cells. I think memory can be sectioned off and some memories are No Go zones but when you gain access to the memory it shows up in different ways.

On The Wall.

Dark City.

In The Groove.

The Long Goodbye.

And Memory or Memories ?

We live in the past I believe. How do you escape the Time Loop though and get out of the groove when the record is stuck ? The separated mind cordons off the most painful memories not only because they are difficult to deal with but also because they are defences against the good stuff in case we let the pain go and remember an alternative memory.

It’s only forever.

The Fourth Wall seems to be real. Not only does it project and reflect, movies can be a trip into the subconscious where you take a trip watching the movie. The movie interacts with our consciousness And think you can add music to that as well.

And I think it’s a moot point whether there are any real directors and actors ‘out there’ actually making the movies. The truth is so far out there !

      1. The pub landlord and landlady is a figure that has kept on showing up over the years. And Lock Ins. Which is when pub doors are shut but the publican keeps on serving after the regulated licensing hours.
