My uncle was a headmaster at a school in Brixton. On the night when the riots started he left his car parked up in Brixton. When things had cleared he went to look for it. All the other cars were burned out in the road except for his car. He was so proud about that.

Effra School. I think it has closed now after a reorganisation.
He wouldn’t let the police in the school things had got so bad between the police and the West Indian community. The problems seemed mainly with the police rather than the populace even though the likes of the National Front added to it.
The early 80s and Thatcher was a crazy time.

Hippocampus and memory. This would mean that we don’t have conscious memory of birth or from conception onwards in the womb as well as the first couple of years after birth. This doesn’t mean we don’t have a subconscious memory. I believe this could be extended to a collective memory since the year dot.
