The “St. Leonard’s Dragon” is a famous piece of Sussex folklore tied to the 6th-century hermit St. Leonard, who is said to have slain a venomous serpent in St. Leonard’s Forest near Horsham, West Sussex. Legend holds that God caused white lilies to sprout where his blood was shed.
