Many of Kubrick’s movies refer to MPD – multiple personality disorder. As examples Halloran telling Danny not to go in Room 237 is Halloran talking to his inner child. Also Dr Bill and Nick Nightingale are facets of the same personality. They actually meet in a gay bar. And others with Dr Bill and Alice Harford eg Domino. The orgy scene is Dr Bill walking through a Dreamscape. IMO.
Goes deeper in my personal life. Memory of Mr Satan / Leatherface in Area 51 involved MPD. Another description of him is the Mad Hatter. His face and clothes would dramatically change. His main personality was military. Others would show an old lady wearing a hat and also an American football player in Dallas Cowboys strip with a grid iron helmet. And many others. Always wore a hat. Called transmogrification. He was / is, as time is fluid, severely fucked up.
This drawing is a joint memory of him.

Also Sin City Old Town girls. Reality is far far far stranger than could possibly be imagined.
Pretty sure we live in a lucid dream. The question is, whose dream?
