Playing the wise old man role. What I’ve learned over the last few years is what triggers people tends to be personal. I would suggest asking yourself why the story speaks to you personally apart from the unpleasantness connected with it. The phrasing ‘on so many levels’ jumps out.

        1. I’ll leave it at this as it is personal to you. Take it or leave it.

Again playing the wise old man role. Again what I’ve learned over the last few years. Archetypes will take you only so far but it’s the human persona and experiences which is most important. As I’ve found out sometimes what you find with the personal dig is not nice. Taking off the rose tinted glasses. It’s not easy to make sense of as there are past / future lives and alternate / parallel realities in the persona and they can interweave. Incredibly complex.
