It’s not that we do or don’t want to die. It’s that we can’t relinquish the moment, especially when they are so beautiful. Yesterday after I posted my comment I stepped outside and looked East up the street to where there is a river with a bridge. There arching right over the bridge was the most incredible rainbow I’ve ever seen. The colors close to the ground were so vivid I could see where the blue ended and the purple began.
If you are a pet owner, and I have had seven cats in my adult life, you know the significance of the Rainbow Bridge. It’s where animals go when their owners make the painful decision to end their suffering. Which I did every time. I stood there looking at the rainbow, remembering, tears rolling down my cheeks, hugging myself. And then it was gone.
Love is a constant ebb and flow of acceptance and letting go.
About my comment about the aliens and the homegrowns. I have the sense that what ever has been here among us, guiding and helping us navigate through this, is leaving.
