Cygnets

Below are a video and photos of three cygnets – young mute swans – on a local lake.

The cygnets and mother and father are on a different lake to my recent Swan article : Bridge Of Swans. I find it interesting how they mature. At this age they are brown / grey and in due course they will turn white and then nature butts into their cosy lives. I have also included photos of the mother and father and when the cygnets turn white they will be booted out of the lake by their parents.

Also I have noticed breeding adult pairs are territorial. There are about four lakes around here with a pair of swans on each. There is only one pair of breeding swans per lake .
