The Stile

Old English Stigel, from a Germanic root meaning ‘To Climb’

“There was a crooked man and he walked a crooked mile
He found a crooked sixpence against a crooked stile
He bought a crooked cat which caught a crooked mouse
And they all lived together in a little crooked house.”

Thank you for your comment. The wooden stiles are incredibly beautiful. The pictures speak for themselves. Even the metal gate type ‘stiles’ are very simple and work. I have been walking a lot over the last few years and am amazed by all the public pathways and bridleways. The system works.

If you liked the stiles article you may like this article. The best ideas are simple.
