Twitter changing the URL to X.com has mucked up the comments slightly. When it went meltdown last year I had to use a new comments plug in. Normal WP comment section doesn’t work properly. It doesn’t recognise X.com url as far as the image goes and doubt if it will be updated. Works at my end with embed and can be done by right clicking the tweet or whatever they are called now and clicking on dots at top and then click on embedded post and paste it into comments. See if that works.
The plug in does show X tweet but without image or you could simply link to the article.
