Piney Woods

On Saturday, Jen and I watched a movie called ‘The Space Between Us’. The movie has a bit of a history on Merovee.

Some readers may remember Roob’s Spurt a couple of years ago now which she left in a comment. At the time, whilst I was pondering what to do about it, I sent Jen the trailer to ‘The Space Between Us’ in an email. I then went back from GMail to Merovee and the article along with Roob’s Spurt had disappeared in The Space Between Us.

I won’t go into huge detail about the movie but it is centred on a boy, Gardner, who is the first human born on the planet Mars in an area called the ‘East Texas Settlement’ which knowing how these things seem to work is probably not random.

And what jumped out for Jen in regards to East Texas is that it’s all pine trees. It’s Pine All.

The Piney Woods. Click Wiki :

The Piney Woods is a temperate coniferous forest terrestrial ecoregion in the Southern United States covering 54,400 square miles (141,000 km2) of East Texas, southern Arkansas, western Louisiana, and southeastern Oklahoma. These coniferous forests are dominated by several species of pine as well as hardwoods including hickory and oak. Historically the most dense part of this forest region was the Big Thicket though the lumber industry dramatically reduced the forest concentration in this area and throughout the Piney Woods during the 19th and 20th centuries. The World Wide Fund for Nature considers the Piney Woods to be one of the critically endangered ecoregions of the United States. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines most of this ecoregion as the South Central Plains.

The Third Eye / Pineal Gland – Crystalinks :

‘While the physiological function of the pineal gland has been unknown until recent times, mystical traditions and esoteric schools have long known this area in the middle of the brain to be the connecting link between the physical and spiritual worlds. Considered the most powerful and highest source of ethereal energy available to humans, the pineal gland has always been important in initiating supernatural powers. Development of psychic talents has been closely associated with this organ of higher vision.

The third eye controls the various bio-rhythms of the body. It works in harmony with the hypothalamus gland which directs the body’s thirst, hunger, sexual desire and the biological clock that determines our aging process. When it “awakens”, one feels a pressure at the base of the brain.

The pineal gland’s location deep in the brain seems to intimate hidden importance. In the days before its function as a physical eye that could see beyond space-time was discovered, it was considered a mystery linked to superstition and mysticism. Today it is associated with the sixth chakra.

The pineal gland is shaped like a tiny pine cone, hence its name’.

Eventually, Gardner comes to Earth where he falls in love with an Earth girl called Tulsa.

And the love story meme between Gardner and Tulsa is ‘What’s your favorite thing about Earth ?’

The Favorite.

And then last night at the Oscars, Olivia Colman wins the Best Actress award for her role as Queen Anne in ‘The Favourite’.

And this morning I read that Trump has declared himself ‘Your Favorite President, Me’.

This is a very strange place.

  1. The department in which I work, in the Tower, is the department of ‘Place’. Now that Old Nick is leaving on Friday, the initials of the first names of the remaining Place directors spell ‘S.P.A.C.E.’ 😀

        1. That link was to an interesting article, Frank.
Regina King – Queen King (hermaphroditism?)
          Queen – “drag queen”
Pride (lion) – reignbow “pride” (gay pride)

Also last week while all the nonsense transpired, the “Queen” bee and her side chick were pictured in a weird painting.

      1. There’s a special place for them. Put their ARMs behind their Backed mortal gages while they think long and hard about Collateral and damages. Something like that. Idk…I just like holding the whip. 🙂

        1. I was a useful idiot. To be honest it was more Dad’s Army than Wolf of Wall Street but insightful into how we are embroiled in a system that has no meaning really. Bits of paper and metal and numbers on a screen. Monopoly gets very boring after a while.

          1. Oh well, could be worse. I walked away from it all (again) after a guy with a German surname that rhymes with Mueller asked me to design a program that would automate the student ‘examination process’. The conversation we had left me thinking of a line from Hannah Arendt’s Origins of Totalitarianism.

“… [T]he masses … were capable of even greater crimes than so-called professional criminals, provided these crimes were well organised and assumed the appearance of routine jobs”.

I knew I couldn’t bring myself to write the specs for it, so I just up and quit one afternoon. Only later did I remember that Müller was head of the Gestapo.

            1. In seriousness I’ve had weird things with Nazi concentration camps and Holocaust in general which seems to centre on Amsterdam – Frank Family and other things.

But the main one was when I was shown a pic of shiny, happy people at their place of work but I got a very real impression I was looking at the inmates of a concentration camp. Discovered later the building was called Furnace House.

  2. saw this movie
    sorry for this guy
he has in my heart too big a heart and this made it impossible his life on earth
it’s good that everything ended well
father and beloved beside him went to mars

    1. Probably got something to do with The Final Programme, Anon. The little honky plodding down the dusty road, and so on. You’ll have to take it up with The Committee.

      1. And Cashmere border.

India and Pakistan shooting down planes.

‘Cashmere wool, usually simply known as cashmere, is a fiber obtained from cashmere goats and other types of goat. The word cashmere is an old spelling of Kashmir. ‘
